Description: This workshop focuses on how bar and line models are used in Singapore Math and Japanese mathematics to represent problems involving fractions and decimals. In addition, we will learn how to use bar models to solve multi-step word problems involving the four operations with whole numbers, fractions and decimals, the unitary method, and the relationship of model drawing to the Common Core State Standards.

Suggested Audience: teachers in grades 3-5, special education teachers, math specialists and coaches, and those who are interested in the model drawing method

For NYC location only: all participants must be registered at least 5 business days prior to a day of a workshop.  Each attendee must have a valid photo ID and arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of workshop.
